What F2 Means
F2 points to a fault in the condenser sensor, the component that monitors heat rejection on the back or underside of the unit and helps regulate the compressor and fan cycle.
Common Causes of F2
- Failed or drifting condenser sensor
- Damaged sensor wiring
- Condenser coils clogged with dust restricting normal heat rejection
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Make sure the condenser area (rear or underside vents, depending on the model) isn't blocked by dust buildup or furniture pushed too close to the wall, since restricted airflow can sometimes trigger a false reading.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Confirming whether the sensor itself or a dust-clogged condenser is the real cause requires inspecting a component most owners haven't accessed before.
- Replacing the sensor when clogged coils are the actual cause means the fault returns once the unit reheats.
