Maintenance & Care

Keeping Your Miele Induction Cooktop in Top Condition

Induction cooktops need less maintenance than gas or coil electric, but a few habits go a long way toward preventing overheating faults.

Miele induction cooktops are lower-maintenance than gas or traditional coil electric cooktops, but a small amount of routine care meaningfully extends their life.

Keep the Ventilation Space Clear

Induction cooktops need clear airflow underneath the unit to cool their internal electronics. Avoid storing items in the cabinet or drawer directly beneath the cooktop — blocked ventilation is a leading cause of overheating-related faults.

Clean the Glass Surface Correctly

Use a dedicated ceramic/induction cooktop cleaner rather than abrasive pads, which can scratch the glass and make it more vulnerable to chipping over time.

Use Compatible Cookware

Induction requires magnetic cookware. Non-magnetic pans won’t heat and can sometimes trigger a display error that looks like a fault but is actually a cookware-compatibility issue.

Give It a Cooldown Period

Extended cooking at maximum power without a break is a common trigger for overheating protection. Brief pauses between pots help the internal electronics stay within normal range. If overheating faults persist after checking ventilation and cookware, book a cooktop repair visit.
