What F3 Means
F3 indicates a problem with the icemaker module, typically a jammed ejector arm, a failed fill valve, or a sensor that can't confirm the ice cycle completed.
Common Causes of F3
- Ice jammed in the ejector mechanism
- Failed water fill valve or supply line frozen shut
- Failed icemaker control module
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check whether the icemaker bin is overfilled or jammed with fused-together ice, which is a common, harmless trigger that clears once the obstruction is removed.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The icemaker's fill valve is plumbed into the home's water line, and working on it without shutting off supply correctly risks a leak.
- Confirming whether the valve, the module, or a frozen line is the actual problem means testing parts most owners don't have the tools to isolate.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
