What FE 00 Means
FE 00 belongs to a small group of codes — Miele lists FE 00, FE 04, FE 08, FE 12, FE 16 and FE 76 together — that appear at switch-on or after service programming in varying combinations. The documented cause for all of them is the same: the appliance model has been programmed incorrectly.
Common Causes of FE 00
- Wrong model version written to the electronics during a previous repair
- Replacement electronics fitted without being programmed for this cooktop
- Programming interrupted part-way through
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
There is nothing to do at the controls. What matters is the history: if this appeared immediately after a repair or a board replacement, say so when you book, because that is precisely the situation the documented cause describes.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Setting the model version is done through Miele’s service programming routine, which is not reachable from the normal control panel.
- A cooktop running the wrong model profile can drive its zones to the wrong power limits, which is not something to experiment with on a glass surface.
- These codes appear in combinations rather than singly, and it takes the full set to work out what the electronics currently believe they are installed in.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

Code meanings can change between control generations. Before acting on a code, match the full model number on your appliance's rating label against the manual for that model. We are an independent repair service, not affiliated with Miele & Cie. KG.
