What FE 32 Means
FE 32 — together with FE 33 and FE 34, which Miele documents under the same cause — means the ribbon cable between the filter electronics and the power electronics is defective. The number tells the technician which side of the cooktop the failing link is on.
Common Causes of FE 32
- Ribbon cable between the filter and power electronics damaged
- Plug at either end of the ribbon cable unseated
- Contacts corroded by heat and time under the hob
- Filter or power electronics failing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Nothing can be done from the top of the hob. Note which zones have stopped responding and which still work normally, because that pattern maps onto the side of the cooktop the failing link serves and saves guesswork.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Ribbon cables and their connectors are fragile, and a cable refitted at an angle or with a bent pin produces a new intermittent problem instead of a fix.
- The electronics sit directly underneath the glass in a confined housing, which has to be reached from below with the appliance isolated.
- Miele’s sequence checks the cable before the boards precisely because the cheap part fails more often than the expensive ones.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
