What FE 39 Means

FE 39 has a single documented cause and a single documented remedy: the wrong model version has been programmed into the cooktop’s electronics, and the correct one has to be written in its place. It is a configuration problem, not a broken part.

Common Causes of FE 39

  • Replacement electronics fitted without programming the correct model version
  • Model version written incorrectly during a previous service visit
  • Programming routine interrupted before it completed

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Nothing at the controls will change this. Find the model designation on the rating plate — usually on a label underneath the appliance or in the paperwork from installation — because the correct version has to be matched to it.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Model programming is done through Miele’s service routine with the right equipment; there is no user-accessible menu for it.
  • A cooktop running the wrong model profile applies the wrong power and temperature limits to its zones, which is a safety matter rather than an inconvenience.
  • Guessing at the model version from a similar-looking appliance produces a cooktop that works, until the day the difference matters.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

FAQ

FE 39 FAQ

Not necessarily the wrong part — more often the right part without the programming step that has to follow it.

It may, but not necessarily to the limits it was designed for, which is why Miele treats it as a problem to correct rather than a quirk to live with.
