What F16 Means
F16 means the dryer has been trying to reach its target temperature for longer than the control board allows and has timed out rather than continuing indefinitely.
Common Causes of F16
- Restricted or blocked exhaust venting
- Failed heating element unable to reach target temperature
- Failed temperature sensor giving an inaccurate reading
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check the exhaust vent path for blockages, since restricted airflow can genuinely prevent a dryer from reaching temperature even with a fully functional heater.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Confirming whether the vent, the element, or the sensor is the actual cause requires checking airflow and electrical parts in sequence, not guessing at one part.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
