What F41 Means
F41 on a Miele dryer is an internal problem of the control/power electronics — Miele’s documentation describes it as a failing EEPROM or failing stored data. The remedy given is to replace the control/power electronic if a problem is confirmed, and to do nothing if it is not.
Common Causes of F41
- Stored data on the control/power electronics corrupted
- Memory on the board failed
- Supply interruption while the board was writing data
- Board failure after a surge
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Disconnect the dryer from power for a few minutes and reconnect it, which is also how Miele’s documentation clears stored problem indications on this platform. If the dryer then runs normally through a full cycle, note it and watch rather than act.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Miele’s own instruction is explicit that no action is needed if no problem is detected on testing, so the board is confirmed before it is replaced.
- The control/power electronic has to match the dryer model — Miele gives a separate code, F43, purely for the case where it does not.
- Reaching the board means opening a machine that carries a heating circuit and, on heat-pump models, a sealed refrigerant system.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
