What F124 Means
F124 — F 01 24 on the display — carries the same three documented causes as F123 but applies to the freezer section: a failing electrical part, a failing cooling circuit, or a connection plug inserted incorrectly. What differs is the consequence, because a freezer that stops has a much shorter safe window than a fridge.
Common Causes of F124
- Fan, defrost heater or another electrical part in the freezer section failed
- Problem in the sealed cooling circuit serving the freezer
- Connection plug between control and power electronics not correctly inserted
- Damaged harness between the two boards
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Do not keep opening the door to check. Leave it shut, put a thermometer inside if you can do it in one movement, and plan for the contents: a full, closed freezer holds for a surprisingly long time, but an empty one does not.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Frozen food gives you hours, not days, so trial-and-error part swapping costs the contents as well as the parts.
- Freezer parts sit behind lining and insulation that has to be opened and put back correctly, or the compartment never holds temperature properly again.
- Sealed-circuit work needs certified recovery equipment, and Miele lists the cooling circuit as one of the three causes behind this code.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
