What F41 Means
F41 is recorded in Miele’s W-series documentation as an electronic and/or data problem. The described behavior is unambiguous: machines with a digital display show three dashes, the water intake valves shut and the program ends. The documented remedy is to check or replace the control and/or power electronics.
Common Causes of F41
- Control or power electronics failed
- Stored data corrupted, often after a supply interruption
- Surge damage to the electronics
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Isolate the machine at the socket for a few minutes and bring it back. A single occurrence that never returns is worth noting but not worth chasing; three dashes that come straight back on the next program are the problem the documentation describes.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The documented remedy is a board, and Miele boards are model-specific and have to be set up for the machine after fitting.
- Three dashes on the display also come from several other problems in the same list, so the code has to be read from the machine’s problem memory rather than inferred from the dashes.
- Fitting a board to a machine whose supply caused the original failure simply repeats the failure.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
