What F51 Means
F51 is an analog pressure sensor problem. That sensor is how the washer knows how much water is in the drum, so without it the machine cannot safely fill at all — which is why the documented behavior is that the valves close, the program ends and the drain pump runs for two minutes.
Common Causes of F51
- Analog pressure sensor on the control/power module failed
- Air hose or chamber to the sensor blocked or split
- Sensor reading disturbed by residue in the pressure chamber
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Nothing on this one is a user job, and there is no external sensor to inspect. What is worth doing is checking the floor under and behind the machine for water before you do anything else, since a machine that cannot judge its own level has been running without that safeguard.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Miele’s documentation is explicit that this sensor is part of the control/power module and cannot be serviced on its own, so the repair is a module and its setup.
- The sensor is checked in service mode against expected values, which is not something the front panel exposes.
- A washer that has lost level sensing has lost its protection against overfilling, and that is a flooding risk rather than an inconvenience.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
