What F15 Means
F15 is insufficient hot water intake, with the water inlet check indicator lighting on the panel. It applies to Miele washers plumbed to both a hot and a cold supply — the machine asked the hot side for water and did not get enough of it within the time allowed.
Common Causes of F15
- Hot supply valve closed or only partly open
- Inlet filter in the hot hose coupling blocked with scale or grit
- Hot water reaching the machine too slowly because of a long pipe run
- Hot inlet valve on the machine failing
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check the hot supply valve behind the machine is fully open, then unscrew the hot inlet hose with the valve closed and look at the small mesh filter in the coupling. Scale and grit collect there and choke the flow long before the cold side shows any sign.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Miele’s own remedy for a slow supply includes measuring what actually arrives and, where the pressure cannot be raised, reprogramming the machine for low water pressure — a service-level setting, not a user one.
- Telling a weak household supply apart from a failing inlet valve needs the flow measured at the machine.
- Inlet hoses are under mains pressure whenever the valve is open, so a coupling remade carelessly floods a laundry room rather than dripping politely.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
