Miele Oven

Miele H5241BP

Model # H5241BP

Pyrolysis is hard on the door seal specifically. On the H5241BP that seal is a woven fiber rope around the cavity opening, and each self-clean cycle takes a little life out of it. A seal that has gone hard and no longer springs back is both a heat-loss problem and a reason the next self-clean may not complete, because the oven cannot hold the required temperature. Replacing it is inexpensive relative to what it protects.

FAQ

As needed, but it is the harshest thing the oven does. Spacing it out and wiping heavy spills by hand extends the life of the seal and the door lock.

Commonly the oven cannot reach or hold the required temperature, which points at the seal, the elements or the temperature sensor.
