What F01 Means
F01 is the NTC temperature sensor, or its connections, short-circuited. Miele’s documentation describes exactly what the machine then does: the heating switches off after about ten seconds and the program carries on to the end, and a machine running on hot water changes over to cold. It is not a door-lock code — door and lock problems are reported through F34 and F35.
Common Causes of F01
- NTC temperature sensor internally short-circuited
- Sensor leads shorted against the tub or chafed through
- Moisture in the sensor plug connection
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Run a hot program and feel the door glass towards the end of the wash. If it stays cool throughout, the machine has done exactly what the documentation says it does with this problem — finished the cycle without ever heating the water.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The sensor has a defined resistance curve and Miele’s procedure checks it in service mode against that curve — a reading, not an inspection.
- The sensor sits in the heater assembly at the bottom of the drum, which means working under the tub alongside the mains heating connections.
- Because the program keeps running, this problem can go unnoticed for months while every hot wash is quietly a cold one.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
