What FE 45 Means
FE 45 applies to cooktops with a third power electronics module in the middle of the appliance — typically the wider models with a bridging or flexible center zone. The heat-sink NTC on that middle module has failed and Miele’s remedy is to replace the module.
Common Causes of FE 45
- Heat-sink NTC on the middle power electronics failed
- Bridged or flexible zone run at high power for long periods
- Ventilation beneath the center of the hob obstructed
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Note whether the center or bridged zone is the one behaving oddly, since that is the section this module drives. On a flexible zone, also note whether the problem appears only when the two halves are bridged together, because that is the highest-load condition.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Only the wider Miele cooktops carry a third module, so the correct part depends on the exact model rather than on the code alone.
- The middle module sits in the most thermally demanding position on the appliance, which is also the most confined to work in.
- Losing the thermal feedback for a bridged zone removes protection from the part of the cooktop that draws the most power.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
