What F05 Means
On Miele microwave-combination and speed ovens, F05 is a short circuit at the oven Pt1000 temperature sensor. Miele’s documentation for this platform has the technician check all connectors first and only then test the sensor in service mode — the connector is a real candidate, not a formality.
Common Causes of F05
- Oven Pt1000 sensor internally shorted
- Connector at the sensor or the electronics damaged
- Sensor wiring chafed against a hot surface
- Moisture in the connector after a steam-assisted program
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Leave the appliance off at the breaker while it waits. The one useful note to take is whether the convection side misbehaved before the code appeared — food browning too fast or the cavity running hot — because a shorted sensor reads high and the control responds accordingly.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Miele’s sequence checks connectors before the sensor because a poor connection is both cheaper and commoner than a failed probe.
- A combination appliance puts microwave generation, convection heating and the control electronics in one housing, and the high-voltage side does not become safe simply because the appliance is unplugged.
- The sensor is tested in service mode against a defined curve rather than assessed by eye.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
