What F54 Means
F54 on a Miele speed oven is a short circuit at the roast probe sensor. It affects the food-probe function only — the plug-in temperature probe used to cook to a core temperature — rather than the appliance’s ability to heat.
Common Causes of F54
- Roast probe temperature sensor short-circuited
- Probe socket connector damaged
- Probe lead crushed in the door or against the cavity
- Moisture in the probe socket
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Unplug the food probe from its socket and try a normal program. If everything else behaves, you have confirmed the problem is confined to the probe circuit, which keeps this from being an urgent call.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Miele’s procedure checks the connectors first, then tests the probe sensor in service mode — which distinguishes a damaged probe from a damaged socket.
- The socket is mounted in the cavity wall, so replacing it means opening an appliance that also houses the microwave generator.
- A replacement probe alone will not help if the socket or the wiring behind it is the problem.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
