What F55 Means
F55 is the friendliest code in Miele’s list. The appliance switched itself off because it had been left running — after six hours or twelve, depending on the mode — and the documentation says so plainly: no action is necessary and the appliance is in working order.
Common Causes of F55
- A cooking function left running past the built-in time limit
- A program started unintentionally and not noticed
- A keep-warm or low-temperature mode left on overnight
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch the appliance off and back on and carry on. Then have a think about how it came to run that long: a program started and forgotten, or a touch control knocked by something being put away above it, are the usual explanations.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Nothing needs repairing here — Miele’s own documentation states the appliance is in working order.
- If F55 appears when the appliance genuinely has not been left on, that is a different matter and suggests it is switching itself on or failing to switch off, which is worth investigating.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
