What F122 Means
F122, displayed as F 01 22, is the ambient-air NTC reported failing. That sensor measures the temperature of the room the appliance stands in, which Miele’s control uses to adapt how hard and how often the cooling has to work.
Common Causes of F122
- Ambient-air NTC failed
- Sensor wiring damaged at the appliance housing
- Connector loose at the electronics
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check what has changed around the appliance. A built-in column installed next to an oven, or a kitchen that now gets strong afternoon sun, changes the conditions the sensor is reporting — useful context even though it does not repair the sensor.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- This problem often produces no obvious sign at first, which makes it easy to ignore until cycling efficiency has quietly drifted.
- The sensor is mounted in the appliance housing rather than in the cabinet interior, so getting to it means drawing a built-in unit out of its cut-out.
- Miele specifies the NTC by part number, and its resistance curve is what the control expects — a generic sensor gives a plausible but wrong answer.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
