Cleaning your Miele dishwasher’s filter and spray arms is the single highest-value maintenance task you can do yourself, and it takes about ten minutes.
Step 1: Remove and Rinse the Filter Combination
Twist the coarse and fine filter combination free from the base of the tub per your model’s markings, and rinse both stages thoroughly under running water using a soft brush for stuck-on residue.
Step 2: Check the Sump Area
With the filter removed, glance into the sump opening for visible debris — glass fragments and produce stickers are common culprits that don’t always rinse out of the filter itself.
Step 3: Clean the Spray Arms
Remove the upper and lower spray arms and check the small jets for clogs, using a toothpick to clear any blocked holes. Blocked jets are a common, overlooked cause of dishes coming out less clean than expected.
Step 4: Reinstall Correctly
Reinsert the filter combination and twist it fully into the locked position, then click the spray arms firmly back into place.
How Often Should You Do This?
