What F33 Means
F33 is the reverse case in Miele’s problem summary: the door lock will not open. The program has finished or been canceled, the machine has asked the lock to release, and it has not confirmed that it did.
Common Causes of F33
- Lock mechanism seized in the engaged position
- Lock solenoid or its wiring failed
- Machine still holding the interlock because a program did not complete cleanly
- Latch distorted after the door was forced at some point
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Give it time before you pull on anything. Many Miele locks hold for a short period after a hot program, and a machine that has stopped mid-cycle will not release until the water level has dropped. Switch the machine off at the socket for a few minutes and try the door again gently.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Forcing a Miele door against an engaged lock usually breaks the latch or the door panel, turning a lock repair into a door repair.
- A lock that will not release may be doing so correctly because the machine still has water in it, and that has to be established before anything is levered.
- Reaching the lock means removing the inner door panel, which on an integrated machine involves the furniture door as well.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
