What F26 Means
Miele’s G-series problem summary lists F26 as boiling protection. It is a protective response rather than a broken part: the control has seen wash water heading past the temperature the program intended and has intervened to stop it boiling in the tub.
Common Causes of F26
- Temperature sensor reading low, so the heating runs on past the target
- Heating relay welded closed and unable to switch the element off
- Control problem leaving the heating energised outside the program step
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Do not open the door straight away — let the machine stand until it has cooled before you unload. After that, the useful observation is whether the machine also shows temperature-sensor or heating codes, because a protection trip usually has something upstream of it.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A protection trip means something else has already failed — clearing the code without finding that cause leaves the machine able to overheat again.
- A relay that has welded shut is an electrical problem on a mains-voltage board and is diagnosed with the machine isolated and metered, not reset and retried.
- Repeated over-temperature cycles are hard on the tub seals and on plastic items in the load, so the cost of ignoring this one goes past the appliance.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
