What F79 Means
F79 is listed in Miele’s G-series summary as a circulation pump communication error. On machines with an electronically controlled pump, the pump and the control electronics exchange information; F79 says that exchange has broken down, which is different from the pump being mechanically blocked.
Common Causes of F79
- Wiring or plug between the pump electronics and the control board damaged
- Pump’s own electronics module failed
- Control electronics no longer driving the pump interface
- Moisture in a connector in the base of the machine
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Listen at the start of a wash phase. A pump that makes no sound at all, or that starts and is immediately shut down, tells a technician something different from one that runs steadily while the machine still complains — and that distinction is worth reporting.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A communication error can sit at either end of the link or in the cable between, and Miele’s approach checks the link before either expensive end is replaced.
- The pump and its connectors live in the base of the appliance, where water and mains wiring share the same space.
- An electronically controlled circulation pump is a significant part, so a diagnosis based on the code alone is an expensive coin toss.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
