What F111 Means
F111 — F 01 11 on the display — is the freezer’s air NTC reported as failing. The freezer section is being regulated without a reliable measurement of its own air temperature, which on a frozen load matters more than it would in the fridge section.
Common Causes of F111
- Freezer air NTC failed
- Sensor lead damaged or pinched behind the freezer lining
- Connector corroded by frost and condensation
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Leave a freezer thermometer between the packs overnight rather than opening the door repeatedly to check. Also look at the ice cream or anything else that shows softening early — texture tells you about temperature history in a way a spot reading cannot.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Accessing a freezer sensor means working inside a compartment where the lining, the insulation and the evaporator pipework are all close together.
- A drifting sensor can leave the freezer running colder than it needs to, burning energy quietly, or warmer than it should, which is the expensive version of the same error.
- Miele specifies the NTC by part number and resistance curve; a visually similar sensor with a different curve simply produces a new wrong reading.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
