What F123 Means

F123, displayed as F 01 23, is the refrigerator section reporting that something in its cooling chain is not working. Miele’s documentation gives three possibilities under the same code: a failing electrical part, a failing cooling circuit, or a connection plug that is not inserted correctly — which is a very wide range of repair from one number.

Common Causes of F123

  • Fan, heater, valve or another electrical part in the refrigerator section failed
  • Problem in the sealed cooling circuit itself
  • Connection plug between the control and power electronics not seated correctly
  • Wiring harness between the two boards damaged

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Establish whether the fridge section is cooling at all. Put a thermometer in and leave it a few hours; also feel whether the appliance is running more or less than normal. Whether there is cooling, partial cooling or none is the single biggest clue to which of Miele’s three causes applies.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • A misseated plug and a failed sealed system sit at opposite ends of the cost range and produce the same code, so the cheap possibility has to be eliminated before anything is ordered.
  • Miele’s procedure tests the electrical parts in service mode, which reads what each one is actually doing rather than inferring it from the cabinet temperature.
  • Work on the sealed refrigerant circuit is restricted to technicians with the right certification and recovery equipment, and opening it without either is both unsafe and unlawful.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
