What F112 Means
F112, shown as F 01 12, is the sensor for the specialist chilled zone — called SmartFresh in Miele’s service documentation and PerfectFresh on most consumer literature. It is the drawer that is meant to sit close to freezing for meat, fish and produce, and its dedicated NTC has failed.
Common Causes of F112
- SmartFresh/PerfectFresh NTC failed
- Sensor wiring damaged behind the drawer housing
- Connector affected by the higher humidity in that zone
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Move anything genuinely perishable out of that drawer and into the main fridge section for now. The rest of the appliance is unaffected, so this is a problem you can live with for a short while rather than an emergency.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The sensor is set into the drawer housing, which has to be dismantled in the right order to avoid breaking the runners and the humidity seal.
- That zone is deliberately held near zero, so a wrong reading either freezes the contents solid or lets the drawer run as ordinary fridge space — and only a measurement distinguishes them.
- The drawer relies on the seal being reinstated correctly afterwards, otherwise its humidity control never works properly again.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
