What F41 Means
On Miele built-in refrigeration, F41 — which the display shows as F 00 41 — is recorded in the service documentation as a failing power electronic. That board is what actually switches the compressor, the fans and the defrost heater, so a problem in it can leave the cabinet without cooling rather than merely without a reading.
Common Causes of F41
- Power electronics board failed
- Supply surge or a long power interruption damaging the board
- Moisture reaching the board behind the appliance
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Get a thermometer into the fridge section and the freezer and write down what they actually read, then check the same figures a few hours later. Knowing whether the cabinet is holding temperature or drifting upward decides how urgent the visit is and what has to be moved out first.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Miele identifies the power electronics by a model-specific part number and the replacement has to be set up for the appliance afterwards, which a straight swap does not do.
- On a built-in column the board is reached from inside the housing, and the appliance has to come forward far enough to work behind it without straining the pipework.
- This board carries mains switching for the compressor, so probing it live is a genuine shock risk rather than a theoretical one.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
