What F41 Means
F41 is a stored-data problem. The machine checks its saved settings at switch-on and the checksum does not match. Miele names two causes — a failure while data was being saved, typically a power interruption at the wrong moment, or a defective memory chip — and gives one remedy: a new power electronics board.
Common Causes of F41
- Power interruption while the machine was writing data
- Memory on the power electronics degraded or failed
- Repeated hard power-offs during operation
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Try a clean power-down and restart once, then note whether your settings — cup sizes, strength, language — have reverted. Settings that have gone back to defaults are the visible face of this problem and worth mentioning.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Miele’s documented remedy is a new power electronics board, which is a part that has to match the machine and be set up after fitting.
- A built-in machine has to be drawn out of its cabinet housing to reach the electronics, and the cabinetry around it is unforgiving.
- Fitting a board without addressing a supply that keeps interrupting the machine invites the same failure again.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
