An automatic descale program on the DG6600 does the work but it cannot supply the descaling agent itself – it prompts and waits. The failure mode we see is a household that has dismissed that prompt for a year or more, at which point the automatic cycle can no longer clear what has accumulated. Scale removal then becomes a manual job. Responding to the prompt when it first appears is materially cheaper.
