What F16 Means
F16 means the oven has lost its identity: the programmed model variant has been deleted, so the control no longer knows which appliance it is running. Miele’s documented remedy is to reprogram the model variant — a configuration step, not a replacement part.
Common Causes of F16
- Programmed model variant erased from the control
- Board replaced without the model variant being set
- Programming interrupted by a supply failure
- Memory on the control degraded
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Nothing here is adjustable from the controls. What decides the diagnosis is history: if this appeared after a repair, a board replacement or a power event, say so when you book, because the fix is a programming step that belongs with whoever last worked on it.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Reprogramming the model variant is a service routine with defined access, not a user menu.
- An oven running without its model identity may apply the wrong element and temperature limits for the appliance it is actually installed in.
- Fitting a new board without setting the variant reproduces exactly the same code.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

Code meanings can change between control generations. Before acting on a code, match the full model number on your appliance's rating label against the manual for that model. We are an independent repair service, not affiliated with Miele & Cie. KG.
