What F70 Means
F70 means Miele's Waterproof System has tripped — a float switch sitting in a shallow tray under the machine has detected water where it shouldn't be, and the dishwasher has shut itself down to prevent flooding.
Common Causes of F70
- A genuine leak from a hose, door seal, or sump seal
- A failed or stuck float switch giving a false trigger
- Condensation collecting in the base tray over time
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher at the shutoff valve and check the floor around and beneath the unit for visible water — do not attempt to reset and rerun the cycle.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Confirming whether this is a real leak or a false trigger from a stuck float switch means checking connections and seals directly, and getting it wrong risks letting a real leak continue unnoticed.
- If it is a genuine leak, continuing to run the dishwasher risks water damage to your floor and the cabinetry underneath.
- The float switch and its tray sit low in the base of the unit, in the same area as electrical connections, making a careless inspection a shock risk.
