What F43 Means
F43 in Miele’s coffee-machine problem summary is a complete loss of communication between the control electronics and the power electronics — not a mismatch between them as with F38, but silence. The display side can no longer reach the side that actually drives the pump, the heater and the brew unit.
Common Causes of F43
- Wiring or plug between the two boards damaged or unseated
- Control electronics failed
- Power electronics failed
- Moisture or coffee residue reaching a connector
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch the machine off fully, leave it a minute and switch it back on. A machine that comes back and runs normally had a transient; one that lights up and then does nothing when you ask for a coffee is showing the problem the code describes.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Three candidates — two boards and the link between them — produce one code, and the link is the cheapest and the most commonly to blame.
- Coffee machines run water, steam and milk past their electronics, so connectors in these appliances corrode in ways that an oven’s do not.
- Built-in machines are drawn out on runners with their water and electrical connections still attached, which is not a pull-and-hope operation.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
