What F12 Means
F12 indicates a water intake problem — the dishwasher isn't detecting an adequate, timely fill, most often because the supply is restricted somewhere between the shutoff valve and the inlet.
Common Causes of F12
- Partially closed water shutoff valve
- Mineral scale clogging the inlet screen
- Failed water inlet valve solenoid

Confirm the water shutoff valve behind the dishwasher is fully open, and check the small mesh inlet screen where the fill hose connects for mineral scale buildup.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- Confirming whether it's the supply, scale buildup, or a failed inlet valve solenoid requires testing the solenoid electrically, not just a visual check.
- Replacing the inlet valve unnecessarily when the real cause is scale buildup means paying for a part that wasn't the problem.
- Accessing the inlet valve typically means partially disconnecting the water supply line, which risks a leak if it isn't reconnected correctly.
