What F24 Means
Both Miele service documents record F24 as a heating relay contact problem. The relay is the switch on the electronics that puts mains power onto the heating element, and this code says its contact is no longer behaving as it should — either failing to close when heat is called for, or failing to release afterwards.
Common Causes of F24
- Heating relay contact welded closed or no longer closing
- Relay contact burnt after years of switching a heating load
- Solder joint at the relay on the electronics failed
- Heating element drawing abnormal current and damaging the contact
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Run a normal program and feel the door once the wash phase is well underway. A door that never warms, combined with dishes that come out greasy and glassware that dries cloudy, is the practical face of a heating circuit that is not being switched.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- A relay that has welded closed can leave the heating energised outside the program step, which is the more serious of the two ways this fails.
- The relay is soldered to a mains-voltage board inside the appliance, and it is assessed with meters rather than by eye.
- Replacing the heating element when the relay is to blame leaves the same code and an unnecessary part.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
