What F10 Means
On a Miele DGC combination steam oven, F10 is stored when the fill-level electrode inside the steam generator never reports that water has arrived. Miele’s DGC 6 series technical documentation attributes it to the water reaching the generator too slowly or not at all — a missing or split intake hose in the water container, hoses blocked somewhere along the path, or a broken connection between that electrode and the power electronics.
Common Causes of F10
- Intake hose in the water container missing, split or unseated
- Water hoses inside the appliance blocked by scale or debris
- Open circuit between the fill-level electrode and the power electronics
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Switch the oven off and let the cavity cool before you touch anything. Then slide the water container out and look at the short intake hose inside it: if it has split, hardened or pulled off its spigot, that is the first item on Miele’s own cause list and the only one visible without opening the appliance.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- The hoses and the fill-level electrode sit inside the appliance housing, which on a built-in oven means drawing the unit out of its cabinet cut-out before anything can be inspected.
- Miele’s documented remedy for a failed level electrode is a new steam generator assembly rather than a loose part, so the electrode has to be proven dead before the money is spent.
- Telling a blocked hose apart from a silent electrode relies on service-mode readings the front display does not expose.
Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.
