What F191 Means

F191 is a short circuit at the heat-flow Pt1000 temperature sensor or its wiring harness — the counterpart to F192, which covers the same sensor going open-circuit. Miele’s documented remedy is to inspect the harness first and then replace the sensor together with its wiring.

Common Causes of F191

  • Heat-flow Pt1000 sensor internally shorted
  • Wiring harness insulation broken down against a hot surface
  • Moisture bridging the sensor contacts after a steam program
  • Connector damaged at the power electronics

🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try

Switch the oven off at the breaker and leave it there. Before the visit, note whether the oven has been overshooting its set temperature or shutting its heating off early, since a shorted sensor reads high and the control reacts to what it is told.

⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That

  • Miele supplies this sensor with its harness and specifies how the cable is routed, because a lead laid against a hot panel is what caused the short in the first place.
  • The sensor sits in the heated section of the appliance, so it is only reachable once the oven is cool, isolated and partly dismantled.
  • An oven acting on a false high reading can cut its heating short or drive it hard depending on the mode, neither of which is worth cooking through.

Opening a panel to inspect or repair something yourself doesn't automatically cancel your manufacturer's warranty — but it can risk accidental damage, and some manufacturers do have specific service conditions. Check your product's warranty terms, or ask us, before deciding.

F191 FAQ

Same sensor, opposite failure. F191 is a short circuit, F192 an open circuit, and Miele documents the same replacement for both.

No. The main cavity sensor has its own codes, F05 and F06. The heat-flow sensor is a separate measurement point.
