What F52 Means
F52 means the dishwasher's foam/suds sensor has detected excess suds in the tub and paused the cycle — almost always caused by the wrong detergent type, not a mechanical fault.
Common Causes of F52
- Regular liquid dish soap used instead of dishwasher detergent
- Too much rinse aid dispensed
- Failed foam/suds sensor (less common)
🔧 One Safe Check You Can Try
Check what detergent was used — regular dish soap or too much rinse aid produces far more foam than a dishwasher's suds sensor is designed to tolerate. Only use detergent formulated for dishwashers.
⚠ Why You Shouldn't Go Further Than That
- If the detergent was already correct and the code persists, the suds sensor itself needs electrical testing to confirm the failure.
- The suds sensor sits in the tub's sump area, and testing it correctly requires the dishwasher to be safely de-energized first.
